Our Medical TeamThe newborn care team in the Women’s Hospital at Renaissance Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (WHR NICU) provides specialized, compassionate care to babies in the unit 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our team includes:. Physicians – neonatologists and surgeons. Nurses – including neonatal nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, staff nurses, charge nurses and case managers. Clinical specialists in respiratory care, physical therapy, and occupational therapy. Feeding and nutrition specialists, including dietitians and lactation consultants. Support service professionals, such as social workers and psychologists, who can help you and your family during and after your time in the NICU.
Dynio Honrubia, M.D.Dr. Dynio Honrubia studied at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he received his undergraduate and medical degrees. He then completed an internship and residency program in pediatrics at UCLA-Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.
Honrubia continued his training with a neonatology fellowship at Children’s Hospital Boston, Harvard Medical School and a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School Morton Molecular Hearing Laboratory.During his career Dr. Honrubia has held many academic and professional positions at Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, UCLA Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, UCLA School of Medicine, the University of Texas Medical Branch and the Doctors Hospital at Renaissance Health System. He is currently the principal investigator in multiple neonatal research studies.Dr. Honrubia is the director of Neonatology for Partners for Pediatric Progress. The mission of Partners for Pediatric Progress is to improve the care of children in some of the most underserved regions in the world. The program provides focused training for the physicians and healthcare workers in Mozambique and Peru.Dr. Honrubia is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in the areas of pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine.
Emil Milano,M.D.Dr. Emil Milano is a native of the Rio Grande Valley, being born in Weslaco, Texas. He received his undergraduate degree from Pan American University in Edinburg, TX and his medical degree from Universidad de Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico.
He completed an internship at Hospital General de Zona #6 in San Nicolas de los Garza, Mexico and residency training in pediatrics at Driscoll Foundation Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. Milano continued his education with a fellowship in neonatology at the University of California at Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California.During his career Dr. Milano has held academic and professional positions at Driscoll Children’s Hospital-South, Christus Spohn Hosptial, Corpus Christi Medical Center, UT Health Science Center San Antonio, and Doctors Hospital at Renaissance Health System.Dr. Milano is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in the areas of pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
